Perimeter

We've been doing some learning about perimeter.

What is perimeter? We now know it is the outside  measurement of a shape.

Today's challenge was to work together to make a shape with the largest possible perimeter first using 6 squares, and then 9 squares.

We noticed a pattern, for every new square we add, we increase our perimeter by 2. Using our pattern we made a prediction about the largest possible perimeter we could make as a class. We tested our prediction and discovered our thinking was right.

  1. Hello, I am a parent of a student in room 13. I like the strategies that you use, and how the students work together. How easy was this activity for the students? Was it easy or hard?
